New Environment Data Added

Environment selectionI decided to finally beef up Investomation climate data, the old data was pretty basic. It had precipitation and temperature averages, but not much else. Over the last couple weeks I've added flood risk data, wild fire risk data, heat wave risk data, as well as hurricane/wind risk data. There are a few cases where such info may be relevant for investors.

For example, your insurance premium will be inversely proportional to the number of hazards around you. In fact, even your ability to get insurance in the first place will be affected by those hazards, as many Floridians are now finding out. I can guarantee you that the heatmap will closely resemble the difference in insurance premiums between regions once you stack the 4 factors I mentioned above along with the crime data (which is already available within the app).

Insurance is relevant to all real estate investors, except maybe those buying raw land. Even then, the environmental data is crucial to land investors. When I buy raw land, I try to avoid wetlands at all costs, wetlands are basically non-buildable. But even if you're not seeking to mitigate risk, environment data can tell you a lot about what you can do with your land.

Does your land get enough sun for a solar farm? Would wind turbines be profitable? Is elevation high enough for a cellphone tower? Does the land get enough precipitation for farming? I hope you find this data useful for your research.

Without further ado, here is some eye candy using new data:
